What Our Clients Say...
Working with Tanya was a joy! She was very responsive to our initial requests, and was attentive to our feedback during the design phase. Tanya has a fantastic ability to assess a space and then create a range of interesting, appropriate design options. We wanted a water-wise, low maintenance landscape and she provided us with several beautiful design options which fit our requirements. The plant selections are appropriate for our hardy environment, and the “hard-scape” will be a great spot for entertaining. In addition to design and plant selection, she provided us with a maintenance plan for each option – an invaluable tool for someone with a brown thumb!

ABOUT CARLSENG DESIGNS
Working with the land is something I have always wanted to do. I started working as a gardener in college but never considered it a “real job”. After years of trying to fit myself into molds that didn’t quite fit, I decided that happiness was more important and got myself back outside with the bugs, dirt and plants. Everyday I am thankful I get to do what I love. I bring this enthusiasm to each new landscape design project, wanting to make each landscape the best possible. My desire to surround myself with beautiful functional landscapes is behind the service I bring to my clients. Everyone I work with becomes A Client for Life meaning that I stay in touch and assist my clients with any landscaping question or needs they may have. Each project is unique and based on listening to the client, assessing the sites strengths, weaknesses and microclimate to create a landscape design that blends function, beauty and sustainability.
MY INSPIRATION
As a child growing up I was very fortunate to have parents who insisted we spend lots of time outdoors hiking and camping. I love the natural landscape, especially the spring flowers poking up from behind rocks and am happiest out hiking our local trails. I am also drawn to the work of Oehme, Van Sweden & Associates, spear headers of the New American Garden movement. My favorite ornamental landscape of all time is the Portland Japanese Garden, considered one of the best Japanese gardens outside of Japan. If you haven’t been, go on a week day to avoid the crowds and be prepared to find peace.
